CHURCH COUNCIL

The Church Council is responsible for the provision of spiritual oversight and the management of progressive and financial affairs of the congregation. Apart from congregational meetings, the Church Council is the final decision making body of the congregation.

Membership of the Church Council:
The Church Council is comprised of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, past chairperson, secretary, church treasurer, member(s) of the Order of Ministry of the Pastoral Charge, Lay Delegates to Presbytery and a representative of UCW as well as the chairperson of and one other delegate from, each of the council teams.

Meetings:
The church council meets the third Wednesday of the month (with the exception of July and August) at 8:00 PM. The council teams meet on the same evening at 7:00 PM.

Teams of the Church Council:
Worship and Music Team/Education Team/ Sunday School
Purpose: To provide the forum for the development, preparation and delivery of worship services and other related spiritual activities of the congregation. To provide, in cooperation with other teams of Church Council, the leadership, organization and structure to address the total educational needs of the congregation.

Pastoral Care Team
Purpose: To create a friendly atmosphere within the congregation and, in close liaison with the Minister, develop a caring church community through the coordination and implementation of visitation and other forms of pastoral care.

Outreach Team
Purpose: To develop and implement plans for consciousness-raising, education and concrete action with respect to Christian mission beyond the boundaries of the local congregation.

Finance Team
Purpose: To promote financial stewardship within the congregation and administer all matters relating to the financial operations of the church.

Sunday School Team
Purpose: To provide the leadership and resources for the effectual operation of the Sunday School program.

Property Team
Purpose: To manage and maintain church owned buildings, furnishings and associated properties.

Ministry and Personnel Team

Purpose: To provide a consultative and supportive agency for both church staff and the congregation, and to maintain liaison with the Presbytery Pastoral Relations Committee.
