GREETING

CALL TO WORSHIP
Today is the Lord’s Day! We celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!
It is the middle of Lent; where is the celebration?
It is a new day, a new week: there is always new life!
But we have sinned and gone astray.
God offers hope, and forgiveness, and love!
Is there a place for me in God’s family?
Yes! There is a place for you, and you, and you; there is a place for all.
We must go and share this good news.
Let us worship and sing praises as we journey to the cross!
Let us share the good news of God’s love for the world!

*INTROIT “Surely the Presence”
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place;
I can feel his mighty power and his grace.
I can hear the brush of angels’ wings; I see glory on each face;
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS

ANTHEM “Save Your People”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION & ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Holy God, we confess that we have fallen astray.
We have turned our backs on those in need and have failed to share the Good News to the downhearted. We have at times focused too hard on our own faults and believe we are not good enough. We become focused on day-to-day tasks and forget the world at need. Forgive us, O God, for not living into our full created potential. Forgive us for not recognizing Your love and grace at work in our own lives. Guide us into ways in which we can share the full meaning of the Gospel with those in need in our community and in our world. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen.
God has created you, exactly as you are. God loves you, exactly as you are. God knows what you can do and who you will be. God forgives you when you go astray and when you doubt yourself. God renews your strength, and God believes in you. Go forth and share the Good News. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

* HYMN #115 “Jesus, Tempted in the Desert”

SERMON ‘The Cure’

PASTORAL PRAYER & LORD’S PRAYER

*OFFERING HYMN #538 “For the Gift of Creation”

DEDICATION
We give these gifts freely, we receive these gifts gratefully, and we dedicate these gifts to the work of our congregation: serving human wholeness, welcoming the stranger and loving one another. In Jesus’ name, Amen

We recognize and bless the gifts brought to the table, and those which wing their way electronically from our banks to the church’s account.

BENEDICTION

*CLOSING HYMN #288 “Great is thy Faithfulness”

A Lenten Prayer
Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race
Jesus Christ, our Savior, as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man and giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You, by following His example of suffering,
and make us worthy to share in His resurrection. Amen.
