Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.
The Lord of hosts is with us.
Let us lift up our hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord!
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God!
It is a good and joyful thing to give God thanks and praise!

Heavenly Father, you have given us riches beyond measure. We can only return a fraction of what we owe you; but we ask, Lord, that you will bless our offerings and help us to use them wisely in your service and for your glory. Amen.

A prayer for Winter
Dear God, it’s cold outside and I’m tired of it. I know I shouldn’t complain. I am very fortunate; I live in a house that is heated, has running water and a warm bed. When I go outside I bundle up with gloves, scarf, hat and a winter coat. For all that, I am extremely grateful, Lord. But then the wind blows into my face, my nose drips, my cheeks burn, my toes freeze and my fingers are numb. Help me, Lord, to see the beauty; the ice on the river is picturesque and the sun sparkling on the trees is beautiful. There is majesty in the power of the wind, and the snow, “He gives snow like wool; He scatters frost like ashes, He casts forth His ice like morsels. Who can stand before His cold?” the psalmist said. (Psalm 147:16-17). I feel like my body is never going to thaw out. I look at pictures of warm places and wish I was there. I want to go shopping or for a walk outside but change my mind because of the cold. Then summer will come, and I fear then that I will complain about the heat, forgetting winter. But for now, could you warm my heart a little? After all, “He sends forth his word, and melts them” (Psalm 147:18). I wouldn’t mind a little melting. Until then, let me praise you at all times, in the warm and in the cold, when I’m irritated and when I’m glad. Let me be glad, even in this cold. Amen. Rick Hamlin

Weekly Announcements

CHAT & COFFEE WITH REV. ALICE – We invite you to join us at 12:00 PM, at the church center on Thursdays, to have a chat and coffee with Rev. Alice. Bring your lunch if you wish and we will provide the coffee.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED – Both our church and centre require upgrades, repairs and renovations. The Trustees are seeking interested volunteers to perform a tour of the buildings to identify these needs. You do not have to specialize in a trade to assist – only possess an interest in the project. The team will meet on Saturday February 15, at 10:00 am., to survey the buildings. Please contact Ellie Sherrard 622-3088 or the church office 622-1598 to leave your name.
**To the members of the congregation who do not wish to take part in this survey, you may express your ideas/concern on the insert in the bulletin and drop it off at the church office or place it on the offering plate over the next few Sundays. Your input is important to us.

LOUNGE – Our lounge at the center needs a little TLC (tender, love & care). We are looking for items that will ‘cozy’ up the space; if you have any of the following gently used items you wish to donate, you may drop them off at the center: Keurig Coffee machine, wood panelling, pictures/art for the walls, a coffee table, area rug. If we collect an over abundance of items, we can use them in the yard sale that is being considered for the Spring. Thank you.

INTERGENERATIONAL SERVICE – The Sunday School will be attending the worship service next Sunday, February 9th for a special Valentine’s service.
