Raising our hands
In devotion to God who is one.
Holy God, you call us together to reflect on your Word,
and our life in your world.
Be with us now as we pray together,
that we may hear your voice and understand your way.
This we pray through Jesus Christ. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, we thank you for the blessings of life. We thank you for the wonders of the world, for diversity of people and intimacy of family, for the goodness of all you have made. Despite your many blessings, we confess that we fall short. We confess we are not always aware of our own sin. We confess that our hearts are hardened and we don’t repent; that we don’t always listen to the opinions of others; that our righteousness and habits can keep us from seeing how our actions hurt others; that our blindness can see nothing but our own will; that our pride does not allow us to admit that we are wrong.
God, in your healing love, forgive us.
Open our ears that we may listen, truly listen, to those who are ignored or dismissed to those in our community that do not have a voice. Open our eyes that we may see others, truly see others; share their joys and bring them comfort in times of sorrow.
Open our minds that we may expand our thoughts, be willing to accept new ideas and discern your will for our lives.
Open our hearts that we may feel you more fully and teach us how to love all of your children. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
Thank you, God for your many gifts. Grant us God, the grace of giving with a spirit large and free, that ourselves and all our living, we may offer faithfully.
I wish you the blessing of faith to sustain you,
friends to support you, challenge to stir you,
songs to empower you, peace to refresh you,
tears to release you, laughter to heal you,
love to nurture your soul.
