God of the open road,
God of the twisting path,
God of the narrow and upward way,
Your people are gathered for worship!

In this hour, give us provision for the journey,
courage and faith and compassion,
and endurance, to face any hardship.
Open our eyes to see You walking beside us,
protecting us, encouraging us, loving us.
We pray this in the name of Jesus,
who moves us. Amen.

MESSAGE There is No Butter in Hell

Lord we know we are called to give; to give generously to the work of Your kingdom here on earth, to give of our talents, our time and our money. In all the ways we give, we hope to glorify Your name. The offering may be placed in the plates as you enter or as you leave today.

Gracious and holy God, accept what we offer today: our cheques and cash, our faltering steps, our brokenness, our leftovers, our hope, our risking, our lives. Bless and transform all that we offer and all that we hold back, that new life may be ours, to celebrate and share in Jesus’ name. Amen

What’s Up at St. J&J?

FALL SUPPER – The church will host its annual Roast Beef Supper on October 3rd, 3:30 – 5:30 PM, take out only. Tickets are: adults $15, children under 12, $7 and will be available at the Church Office and Brookdale Flower Shop. All tickets will be pre-sold in advance. There are two options for pickup: at the front door or drive thru (enter Henry Street to back of church centre and exit Regent Street) and delivery is also available by phoning the church office.

BIBLE STUDY – Rev. Alice would like to start a Fall bible study on Tuesday evenings; the question is would people prefer an online bible study through Zoom or an in-person bible study at the church? Please call or email the church office with your preference.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETING – During our Sunday School meeting on Tuesday evening we decided that, as the children will be returning to school and learning a whole new way of ‘doing school’ during this pandemic, we felt it would be best to hold off Sunday School until they make this transition. We have developed a survey that will be placed on the Sunday School Facebook page the end of September. There will be a link to the survey that may be completed anonymously or you may sign your name. As well, at least two of our leaders are unable to teach this year for various reasons; in order to continue Sunday School, we will require volunteers to help teach the program. We are asking all members of the congregation to please pray for our Sunday School.

RESTORATION FUND – Due to the extensive repairs/upgrades that are required in the church, until further notice any monies designated to the building fund will go toward the Restoration Fund.

HOSPITAL – Please phone the church office if you know of someone in hospital so Rev. Alice may visit.

What’s Up in the Community?
