Today’s Service
(* Indicates when to stand, if you are able.)

CALL TO WORSHIP
In the midst of life’s chaos, at the heart of our discontent, within the fragments of human brokenness,
Lives the healing presence of God.
Beyond our fears and misgivings, before the excuses and doubting, abiding within the honest and vulnerable,
Lives the healing power of God.
Come, let us not pretend we do not know these places. Let us not avoid what is real. For in the facing and accepting,
Lives the healing embrace of God.

PRAYER OF APPROACH
Generous Creator of love and life, in your welcome embrace, lies both our hope and healing. May this time of prayer and listening be for us a renewal of spirit, and of the courage to follow the life path you call us to lead. Amen.

* INTROIT #291 “All Things Bright and Beautiful”

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Eternal God, in the reading of scripture, may your Word be heard; in the meditation of our hearts, may your Word be known; in the faithfulness of our lives, may your Word be shown. Amen.

BENEDICTION
As we leave the sanctuary of this sacred place, may God place within us the tools to transform our world, and give us the courage to break free of our shortcomings and fulfill our high calling in Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

* CLOSING HYMN #299 “Teach me God to Wonder”

The Village of Hope is a drug and alcohol regeneration facility with a Christian based program to help men of all ages (18 and up) overcome life controlling drug and alcohol problems. The program is funded by donations and accepts students from throughout Canada. Students learn the physical and psychological effects of chemical addiction and learn to take responsibility for their own recovery. They learn to give of themselves to serve others which helps give them hope for their future and a true sense of purpose. Some of the elements of the Program include: establishing good work ethics, learning employment skills, experiencing inner healing and rebuilding broken family relationships.
The Outreach Team believes this would be a worthwhile cause and beneficial to our community and are planning to sponsor a student for a 10 month period. Members of the Village of Hope will be sharing their message with us in our service on October 20, 2019.
